Is Heaven Your Home?

When Adam sinned and disobeyed God there were eternal consequences for all of mankind as seen in Genesis 3. From that day on man was in need of a Saviour. Throughout the Old Testament they were looking forward to the coming Messiah to redeem mankind. Jesus Christ, the Son of God came 2000 years ago to seek and to save those who are eternally lost (without Christ as their Saviour). Because He came as a lowly carpenter and not as royalty or as a priest, the Jews rejected Him as the Messiah. Many Jews witnessed Jesus’ teachings and saw the miracles He performed firsthand and still rejected Him as the Christ, the Son of God.

Now to the original question, “Is Heaven Your Home?” You may say that you do not know, or that you may not be sure. You may even ask if it is even possible to know that one can go to Heaven. Let me tell you friend, it is absolutely possible to know.

I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

These things that are being referred to is the Bible. There are a few things about Jesus that you need to understand and believe in your heart in order to secure eternal salvation for yourself.

Realize that God loves you!

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

It is rather easy to understand that God loves you isn’t it? However, you need to realize that God loves you so much that He sent His only Son to this earth to die for you. That is an amazing expression of love wouldn’t you say?

The Bible says that ALL men are sinners!

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

This too is rather easy to understand. You can look around and see that all are sinners. It does not say “All except …” It says “ALL”. Realize that it was the sinfulness of mankind that brought on our need for a Saviour.

God’s Word also says that sin must be paid for!

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death;”

The only reason that we die as human beings is because of our sinfulness. This was the penalty handed to mankind in Genesis 3:19 where God told Adam that he will “return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” This is the reason that every human being will die.

However, the Good News is that Jesus Christ paid our sin debt on the Cross!

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

We are sinners eternally condemned deserving Hell and separation from God forever. We owe a sin debt that we cannot pay for ourselves. But Christ paid that sin debt for us on the Cross of Calvary.

Ultimately, this is what you need to know and understand about Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation. However it cannot stop there. There is one thing that you must do.

Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

You may believe in your heart that God sent His Son to die for you on the Cross, but believing this in your heart is not enough.

You must personally pray and receive Jesus Christ by faith as your Saviour!

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

You may say that you do not know what to say. Maybe you can pray a prayer similar to this in the quietness of your own heart:

Lord, I know that I am a sinner. If I died right now I would not go to Heaven. Forgive me of my sin and come into my heart and into my life and be my Saviour. Help me to live for you from this day forward the rest of the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have just prayed and received Christ as your personal Saviour please let us know we want to pray for you and encourage you the best way we can.

Here are a few things that will help you with Eternal Security.

We by faith receive Christ as our Saviour. We cannot do anything to save ourselves, or to get ourselves unsaved.

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

We do not receive biblical salvation and then lose it. We are kept by God’s power unto salvation. (Romans 1:16; I Peter 1:5) Nobody, not even the Devil himself, can take your salvation from you.

John 10:28-29 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
